Der Riemenantrieb ist eine Form des Antriebs, bei der ein Riemen anstelle der traditionellen Kette und der Zahnräder verwendet wird. Dieser Riemen ist aus Kunststoff oder Karbon gefertigt. Der Riemen kann mit einem Verteilerriemen in einem Auto verglichen werden.

Der Riemen besteht aus Kunststoff in Kombination mit Karbon, was viel leichter ist als das Metall einer herkömmlichen Kette. Außerdem ist die Schaltung bei einem Fahrrad mit Riemenantrieb immer in die Nabe integriert. Das sorgt für eine effizientere und leichtere Fahrt.
Nahezu wartungsfrei
Eine herkömmliche Kette besteht aus Metall und muss mit Öl geschmiert werden. Das macht sie schmutzig und sie rostet auch. Auch die Zahnräder nutzen sich ab. Beim Riemenantrieb ist dies nicht der Fall. Das System ist daher sehr wartungsfreundlich.
Leise mit dem Fahrrad mit Riemenantrieb
Das Metall einer Fahrradkette macht Geräusche, vor allem mit der Zeit. Der Riemenantrieb ist sehr leise, man hört nicht einmal das Schalten der Gänge.
Längere Lebensdauer
Der Riemenantrieb nutzt sich nicht so stark ab und rostet nicht, daher hält er im Durchschnitt bis zu viermal länger als eine herkömmliche Kette.
Keine schmutzigen Hände/Kleidung
Wie wir bereits erwähnt haben, müssen Sie den Riemenantrieb nicht mit Öl schmieren. Es ist daher weniger wahrscheinlich, dass Schmutz an der Kette haften bleibt. Wenn Sie den Riemen beim Radfahren mit Ihrer Hose berühren, wird er nicht sofort schmutzig. Und wenn Ihr Fahrrad doch schmutzig wird, brauchen Sie es nur abzuspritzen.
Kein Kettenschutz
Der Kettenschutz gehört beim Fahrrad mit Riemenantrieb der Vergangenheit an. Müssen Sie den Riemen für die Wartung erreichen? Dann können Sie ihn leicht erreichen.
Die Nachteile eines Fahrrads mit Riemenantrieb
Preis
Fahrräder mit Riemenantrieb sind etwas teurer als Fahrräder mit einer herkömmlichen Kette. Das liegt natürlich auch daran, dass sie derzeit noch knapp sind. Ein Riemenantrieb kann nicht in Kombination mit einer Kettenschaltung verwendet werden. Das liegt daran, dass der Riemen keine Gänge schalten kann. Die Schaltung befindet sich in der Nabe, so dass man mit einer begrenzten Anzahl von Gängen auskommen muss. Der Riemenantrieb ist daher bei Rennrädern noch nicht verfügbar. Aber auch diese Entwicklung ist nicht stehen geblieben. Das Pinion-Getriebe zum Beispiel hat jetzt bis zu 18 Gänge.
Spezieller Rahmen erforderlich
